## Relocating your business is a big step—and while logistics matter, your employees are just as important to the success of the move.

A well-prepared team can help reduce downtime, avoid confusion, and keep your operations running as smoothly as possible.

At Big Dog Movers, we’ve helped businesses across Madison and beyond navigate office relocations with minimal disruption. Here’s how to properly prepare your employees before moving day.

### Start Communicating Early

The sooner your team knows about the move, the better. Share key details like timelines, the new location, and what to expect during the transition. Ongoing updates—whether through meetings, email, or internal tools—help eliminate uncertainty and keep everyone aligned.

### Assign a Point Person or Move Coordinator

Designate someone internally (or a small team) to oversee the moving process. This keeps communication organized and ensures nothing falls through the cracks. When working with professional office movers like Big Dog Movers, we coordinate closely with your team to streamline every step.

### Get Employees Involved

When possible, include your team in decisions like workspace layout or office setup. Even small input can increase buy-in and help employees feel more comfortable with the transition.

### Provide Clear Logistics Ahead of Time

Give your team the information they need to plan ahead—parking details, commuting changes, building access, and nearby amenities. The more prepared they are, the less stressful the transition will feel.

### Offer a Preview of the New Space

If possible, let employees see the new office before moving day. Whether it’s a quick walkthrough or shared photos and layouts, familiarity helps reduce first-day confusion and anxiety.

### Address Your Office IT and Technology Needs

Office moves often involve relocating computers, phones, and network systems. Communicate any changes in advance and make sure employees know how to reconnect and who to contact for support. Big Dog Movers is experienced in handling sensitive office equipment with care.

### Help Employees Transition Their Workspace

Encourage employees to pack up personal items ahead of time and label everything clearly. Providing bins or boxes can make this process easier and more organized.

### Have Support Available on Moving Day

Moving day can feel hectic, so it’s important to have guidance in place. Make sure employees know where to go, where their workspace is, and who to ask if they need help. Our team at Big Dog Movers helps coordinate placement and setup so your staff can get back to work quickly.

### Make It a Positive Experience

A move is a fresh start—acknowledge it. Whether it’s a small welcome gathering or simply a way to recognize the effort, creating a positive atmosphere goes a long way toward boosting morale.

### Ask for Feedback After the Move

Once everything is settled, check in with your team. What worked well? What could be improved? Their feedback can help you refine future processes and shows that their experience matters.

### Make Your Office Move Easier with Big Dog Movers

Preparing your employees is just one piece of the puzzle. Partnering with an experienced Madison office moving company ensures your entire relocation is handled efficiently—from planning to setup.

Big Dog Movers provides professional commercial moving services designed to minimize downtime and keep your business moving forward.

### BIG DOG MOVERS – MAINTAINING HEALTH & SAFETY PROTOCOLS DURING THE CORONA VIRUS EPIDEMIC

### message from Big Dog Movers

During times like these, nothing is more important than our health and our loved ones. On behalf of the Big Dog Movers team, I would like to start by wishing you and your families good health during these difficult times.

Even though today’s situation can hardly be described as “business as usual”, we will do our best to make it feel that way during our interactions with you. #### WHAT WE’RE DOING TO MAINTAIN HEALTH & SAFETY PROTOCOLS

As coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread throughout the world, we wanted to take this opportunity to detail some of the specific “day-to-day” precautionary steps we are taking to ensure our customers’ safety & health.

 [
WE’RE DISINFECTING OUR EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS REGULARLY
](#accordion-item-we're-disinfecting-our-equipment-and-tools-regularly)We’re wiping all of our tools, equipment and systems with disinfectant each morning and after visits with each customer.

[ YOU CAN HELP BY FOLLOWING THE RECOMMENDED WDHS GUIDELINES
 ](https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/prepare.htm)

We’re keeping up to date with with local, state and national health guidelines. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services and the Office of Governor Evers are leading the response to this crisis across Wisconsin, and we’re following their advice in terms of precautions and mitigation measures.

 [
WE’RE CALLING OR TEXTING AHEAD, TO AVOID UNNECESSARY FACE TO FACE MEETINGS
](#accordion-item-we're-calling-or-texting-ahead,-to-avoid-unnecessary-face-to-face-meetings)We are taking the necessary precautions when going into someone’s home for moving purposes

We are requesting texted or emailed specific instructions from our clients a day prior to their scheduled appointment so no unnecessary face to face meetings take place
We are calling or texting 5 minutes prior to arrival so our client(s) can make sure they are allowing for 6 feet of social distancing upon entering their home
We will greet our clients with a smile, but are refraining from our customary handshake greeting

 [
WE ARE BRINGING PORTABLE HAND WASHING STATIONS WITH US ON EVERY TRIP AND USING IT FREQUENTLY
](#accordion-item-we-are-bringing-portable-hand-washing-stations-with-us-on-every-trip-and-using-it-frequently)We have portable hand washing stations with anti bacterial soap that we are using consistently throughout the day. Especially used before and after touching items inside a home, greeting clients and in between each load we haul.

 [
 HOW WE’RE KEEPING OURSELVES HEALTHY
](#accordion-item-how-we're-keeping-ourselves-healthy)The team at Big Dog Movers is small and we are taking every necessary precaution that we are not inadvertently spreading the Corona Virus.

When not at work, we are staying at home and avoiding all unnecessary interaction with people outside of our home
We are washing our hands regularly with hot water and disinfectant soap, using hand sanitizer when washing our hands is not available and using disinfectant wipes in our vehicles before and after visits.
We disinfect our vehicles, equipment, tools and systems daily.
We are following the OSHA Safety Guidelines

## WHAT YOU CAN DO

We urge our customers to follow The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recommendations:

##### Social distancing:

Practice ”social distancing” by keeping at least six feet between you and other people.

##### Wash your hands:

Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

##### Don’t touch your face:

Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
Cover your cough or sneeze: Cough or sneeze into a tissue, then throw that tissue in the trash. If you don’t have a tissue, use your elbow (and not your hands).

##### Stay home if you’re not feeling well!
